Blackberry's performance?(phone gadget review)

Blackberry is not doing well financially and its customer base has

dwindled. This might be a sad story but I would like to blame it on

innovation.

The lack of creativity amongst the firm's staff and engineers has

costed the company millions of dollars in revenue. It is more of a

slow and complicated phone than its counterparts with lots of hiccups.

My experience withblackberry phones has not been exciting or enticing.

Competitors

'''''''''''''''''''''''

Rivals like Samsung, Nokia and Apple have taken their mobile brands to

the next level. This is through pleasing customers with cheap, fast and

easier-to-use gadgets in the market.Nokia, for example, has

specialised in energy-conservative phones(battery last longer) plus

the simplest interface across all its products.

Design

''''''''''''

The mobile phone company's products are not at par with current

consumer needs. Most of the phones are heavy and large. The design of

blackberry devices is also the same for each released with no changes

for upcoming products including its shape, size and colour which vary

less distinctly.

Speed and ease-of-use

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

The hardware and sofware are both not in sync with the device.A

button, lets say, when pressed respond less quick than current

technological demands or has to be double-clicked.This may be a result

of the operating system, not as compatible with the hardware as

possible.Check on that BB.

The software capabilities are also minimum.Scrolling in touchphones is

as difficult as finding a way through a maze. They should emulate

Samsung mobile which offers sideway gliding windows in touch screen

interfaces. It enables the user to browse amongst various running

applications faster.

Applications

'''''''''''''''''''''

The blackberry app store is another challenge.Users have to pay higher

ammount of money to access apps which usually require 3g

connectivity.(in real sense, 3g is more expensive than 2g network).

Power consumption

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Last, but not least in this discussion, is an important necessity. It

is what makes us love and keep the phones close to us as our

families.The battery.

Blackberry batteries have a short life and standby time hence, poor in

power conservation. This usually happens after a year. They should

follow Nokia's footstep in creating reliable energy-saving phones.

Market

''''''''''

Buyers, due to the above reasons have opted for alternative products. As

a result, lower profits have been witnessed, compared with their

counterparts.

In the third quater earnings of 2013,the company has made a loss of

$4bn sales earnings from $2.7 to $1bn.

The week ended yesterday, was a hallmark in which the company entered

a five year deal with Foxconn to help produce its devices. The CEO said

the company is working with its in-designers on producing world class

phones in a highly competitive market.Foxconn will produce blackberry

phones and the new design is expected early next year.

Irobot and the law of robotics. Do human-like robots exist?

I-robot was at the premier of movies when it was released in the year 2004. It bewildered, many a fan, including myself of how the future technology would look like plus the existence of robots, running almost equal or parallel lives with human beings. Perhaps, one century into the future, a possibility of self-driven cars and more flexible robots is a reality. Taking into mind those memoirs, I became quite interested and fascinated about the three laws written by Prof. Alfred Lenning in the movie Irobot in which Will Smith, a detective tries to unearth the meaning  of robots and their existence as a threat or benefit to humanity . I wanted to find out how it relates to robotics and physics. I-robot 1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection d...
