Google increases its market share in laptops for the year ended 2013

Google's Chromebook (laptops installed with Chrome OS) have hit the

market with an all time high purchases.The company now owns 21% of the

market share up from less than 2% last year.

In a market, dominated by Microsoft, Google is a competitor to

reckon.Two years ago, chromebooks had only a small fraction of

consumers mainly consisting of students.Hp,Samsung and Acer have

partnered with Google to sell chromebooks at cheaper prices.

Users have shown preference for chrome over windows run

laptops.Chromebooks operating system requires no unwanted updates

andhas an inbuilt antivirus.Furthermore, its' chrome integrated

browser runs more faster and efficiently in the web.



Other handul features include some of Google's high end products such

as cloud storage upto 100GB,Google docs etc embeded in the Operating

System.



Such features have slowed down sales for Apple's mac and Micosoft's

windows PC's.

Challenges facing chromebook include sluggishness in running offline

applications.Google defended itself by claiming chrome OS is still new

and requires time to find solutions and remit required updates.



Other problems include faulty accesories.Hp inc, notorious for

manufacturing overheating chargers in recent years, had to recall

250000 battery chargers sold after users filed complaints.



Officials from Google however, were upbeat that the hitch will not

impact on sales.They predicted high sales in first quater of 2014.

Bike or car? Project 2 and 4

I was thinking about bike cars and a documentary about them from dw tv which highlighted the revolutionary bike cars. They are aimed at reducing emissions and single transit of an individual to shorter distances. I was surprised to come around the news about bike cars. In particular a racing Ferrari-like car that is both bike and a car. The Project 2&4 concept. It is also the winner of  Honda design competition involving engineers and designers from both motorcycle and automotive studios. The concept is powered by a 999cc v4 engine. It has an rpm of 14000 ( revolution per minute: a measure of the frequency of rotation which is the number of rotations around a fixed axis per minute  and is a measurement of rotational speed of a mechanical component) which when calculated with torque(how strong an automobile is) calculates to around 211bph (break horsepower :how fast work can be done using the power).The clutch is a 6 speed dual transmission.
